Through the proxy configuration most of the electronic resources subscribed by the Library are accessible off-campus (from home, for example). Some databases require specific procedures, such as the federate login IDEM-GARR or the Single Sign-On, in accordance with the access indication on each record.

Personal computer and laptop
To configure the Luiss proxy on your browser the following instruction must be set in the advanced settings for Windows (A) and macOS (B):
A. Windows
Open the browser (Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox)
Click on the top right for Settings and search for "proxy"
Select the automatic proxy configuration and type the Luiss proxy URL http://www.luiss.it/httpgw.pac
B. macOS:
Open the browser (Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox - Safari is not recommended)
Click on the top right for Settings and search for "proxy"
Select the string of automatic proxy configuration and type the Luiss proxy URL http://www.luiss.it/httpgw.pac
Please note: for those who connect to the Internet using internet keys or USB modems the configuration should be saved under the remote connection settings rather than under the LAN (Internet Explorer) settings.
Successful configuration
Once configuration has been completed, you need to close the browser and to re-open it.
A Luiss server authentication window will open upon clicking on a remotely accessible resource. Users must insert their user id and password provided by Luiss Help Desk (M: supportoit@luiss.it; T: 06 85225211).
How to disable the proxy
In order to disable the proxy, you have to deselect the option in the last step of configuring your browser.
Access from mobile devices
Remote access configuration is available exclusively through Wi-Fi connection, and not through 3G/4G networks.
A. Access from Android tablet and smartphone
- Open your device's Settings then Network & internet and Internet.
- Tap a Network then Advanced options.
- Under Automatic proxy setup, turn on Automatically detect settings.
- Insert the Luiss Proxy URL http://www.luiss.it/httpgw.pac.
B. Access from iPad and iPhone
- From Settings select your Wi-Fi connection.
- Choose the Automatic Configuration.
- In the field for the web address (URL) enter the Luiss Proxy URL http://www.luiss.it/httpgw.pac.

How to access
To complete the OpenAthens authentication click on the URL provided by the Luiss Library Discovery or by the A-Z list of electronic resources and sign in with your institutional account by choosing the first option "Luiss Active Directory".
Publishers
Most publishers allow direct access to subscribed contents via OpenAthens authentication.
If you start from Google or other search engines remember to find Luiss in the list of authorized institutions once landed on the publisher's website.
