Interlibrary loan (ILL) is a lending and borrowing service between Italian libraries.

Books not owned by Luiss Library or by other libraries in Rome may be requested from other Italian libraries. Please check the Luiss Discovery before sending the request.

Who can access the service?

How can I consult the requested books?

Once delivered, books can be requested directly at the Law Room desk both for consultation and digital copies according with the following timetable: from Monday to Friday, from 9am to 5:30pm.

What can be requested?

Books not owned by the Luiss Library or by other libraries in Rome.

How many books can be requested at a time?

To guarantee an efficient service, we ask users to make no more than 8 requests per month or 4 per day.

How much does the service cost?

The service is free of charge as long as we can forward your request to one of our partner libraries. Otherwise, the cost is usually no more than 6 Euro. It is our priority to inform you before placing the request.

How can I do a request?

To send a request, please fill out the online form or deliver the form in person to the Library Law Room. Please check the Luiss discovery before sending any request.

How long does it take to receive the books?

Approximately 8/10 working days depending on the library that receives the request. Luiss Library handles your request within 2 business days. You will be informed as long as the Library receives the requested books.

Other Libraries

Who can access the service?

Italian libraries, academic and not, which need to access Luiss Library collections and which do not operate in Rome.

Requests from Libraries based in Rome will be evaluated according to the affinity of the holdings of the borrowing Library, and, after one year, they will be screened again on the basis of the effective reciprocity of exchanges.

Personal requests are not allowed.

What books can be requested?

Books held by Luiss Library according with the specific loan policies. The loan expires in 45 days starting from the shipping date. Access to Luiss books must take place in the borrowing Library premises. Please check the Luiss Discovery to check the availability of items and their loan policy.

How many books can be requested?

Libraries can request up to 3 items at the time and, in any case, up 5 per month.

How much does the service cost?

The service is for free if the borrowing library accepts free reciprocity of document exchanges.

If the borrowing Library will not guarantee free reciprocity, the refund fee is of 1/2 IFLA Voucher.

How long does it take to receive the items?

Luiss Library undertakes to reply, even if negatively, within 5 working days of receiving the request.

How can Libraries do a request?

Libraries can send an e-mail to by providing the needed bibliographic information about the book.
