Inclusive Services

The Library promotes inclusive services by fostering access to spaces and holdings.  

To support the study and research activities of students with disabilities, the Library subscribes to platforms providing inclusive reading experience which are also accessible off-campus, and facilitates access to on-site resources through PC stations equipped with programs for text decoding and speech synthesis.


Resources
  • Luiss Library Discovery, provided with inclusive tools for accessibility;
  • Accessible electronic resources with inclusive reading experience:
    • fluid layout;
    • highly readable fonts;
    • customizable interline;
    • definition of the contrast level;
    • editing of the content's colour combination;
    • speech synthesis for reading aloud.
Services

Luiss users affected by certified disabilities are provided with the following services:

  • Research support and reference service;
  • Book requests for volumes borrowed by other users and/or available in the Library for loan;
  • Loan with delegation to withdraw books after sending the identity document of both the delegate and the Luiss user to bibliotecainclusione@luiss.it;
  • Interlibrary loan and Document Delivery;
  • SensusAccess, a self-service platform for conversion of documents in alternative accessible formats, multimedia or audio;
  • Simplified accessibility to the contents of the website through the integration of AccessiWay software.

Since April 2023, Luiss has been recognized by the Ministry of Culture as an "Entità Autorizzata" to produce, on a non-profit basis, a digital accessible copy of bibliographic material to meet educational needs of University's users with certified sensory disabilities (blindness or visual empairment) and specific learning disability (DPCM del 6 luglio 2020).
