International Literacy Day

On September 8, the world celebrates International Literacy Day, established by UNESCO to highlight the crucial role of literacy in personal, social, and economic development.

The 2026 edition encourages reflection on the skills needed to access, evaluate, and use information critically and responsibly in an increasingly digital environment.

For university students, literacy goes beyond reading and writing. It also means being able to identify reliable sources, develop effective research strategies, and use information ethically and responsibly. These are essential skills for academic success, research, and lifelong learning.
