How to access LSEG Workspace and Datastream

To access off-campus, you must request the activation of a personal license by sending an email to biblioteca@luiss.it. You can also access it via an app directly from your computer by downloading the software from the LSEG Workspace for desktop page.

To access the terminals in Viale Romania:

• There are 3 workstations on the 5th floor in the open space to the left of the DEF Postdocs and PhD Students classroom.

If, on the other hand, you want to access the 4 terminals in the Library's Economics Room on Via di Santa Costanza, reserve a workstation (for up to 3 hours) through the Luiss – Space and Service Reservation portal. 
If you don't have a personal license, you can contact the library staff during their support hours.

LSEG Workspace for Excel

The LSEG Workspace Excel add-on is automatically installed in a Windows environment when you install the LSEG Workspace for desktop program. 

To install Workspace for macOS, follow these steps:

• Close all Office 365 suite applications 
• Open Excel 
• Sign out of your Luiss account: File menu – Account – Sign out 
• Search for and then install the Refinitiv add-on (plugin) 
• Go to the Refinitiv tab and log in 
• Reconnect your Luiss account in Excel

Please note: macOS uses the Workspace Lite add-in, which only provides basic functionality when using the platform through Excel. Datastream is not available in Workspace Lite for macOS. 

To address this issue, you can choose one of the following alternatives:

• Run Windows on your Mac with a virtual machine | Parallels Desktop 
• Boot Camp Assistant for Mac - Apple Support (IT)

Datastream For Office 

The Datastream add-in is included in the Workspace once you've finished installing LSEG Workspace for desktop. DFO has been placed within the Datastream Formula button (Time Series and Static Request), while the Request Table section and DFO Charting remain separate (to the right of the Datastream formula).

Please note: Datastream is not available in Workspace Lite for macOS.

LSEG certifications allow you to gain advanced skills in using the LSEG Workspace, Datastream, and Eikon resources.

The completely free on-demand training lets you learn using your desktop or laptop computer. An assessment at the end of the course will demonstrate your knowledge and be certified in a final certificate.

If you already have an active license assigned but can't access certain data or get an error message (such as “Access denied”), it could be a cache issue. Try these steps: 

1. Exit Workspace and any related applications.
2. Press the Windows key + R to open the Run dialog box.
3. Type < %appdata% > and click OK.
4. Click on the Refinitiv folder, then on the Refinitiv Workspace folder.
5. Rename the cache folder to "Old cache" or a similar name.
6. Restart your system and log in again.

LSEG Workspace does not provide direct support to users regarding database usage. If you need help, you can send an email describing your request to biblioteca@luiss.it, and the Library staff will open a case with the Get Support service.
